Health Marshals deployed in the coastal barangays confronted and dispersed several persons who defied the prohibition of beach outings in celebration of the feast of Saint John the Baptist today.
However, the crowds in the beaches, including minors and some elderly, are significantly smaller as most residents complied with the appeal of the barangay and city authorities for them to stay at home and avoid mass gatherings to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
City Executive Assistant for Security Concerns retired General Rey Lyndon reiterated his instruction to the health marshals to be alert and maintain presence in the beaches ready to respond to any violations of the health protocols.
The Health Marshals are composed of personnel from the City Health Office, Philippine National Police, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Traffic Management Office, Special Enforcement Unit, Department Trade Industry, City Social Welfare and Development Office and Bureau of Fire Protection.
