One hundred thirty-two (132) units of mobile internet devices were donated today by Smart Communications Incorporated to the City Government of Dumaguete for public schools and for other lawful purposes to support online classes and work.
Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo led city officials in accepting the donated mobile internet routers, sim cards and data load cards from Smart Communications Operation Manager Christine Undang in a simple turnover ceremony at the session hall with Vice-Mayor Karissa Tolentino—Maxino, Councilor Manuel Sagarbarria, Councilor Michael Bandal and SK President Renz Macion.
Vice-Mayor Tolentino-Maxino said that it was Councilor Michael Bandal, who helped facilitate the donation through his friend Ms. Undang, to support the education program and essential services of the city government.
Mayor Remollo expressed his gratitude to Smart Communications for the timely and relevant donation when online communication is necessary considering the limits in physical interaction caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The City Government will distribute the pocket wifi to the different public schools and offices providing essential services
For her part, Ms. Undang reiterated that the donation is in line with the company’s corporate social responsibility to support online learning and continued delivery of essential services with faster connectivity amid the pandemic.
