There is no noticeable gathering of crowds in public places, even on a Friday, as Dumaguete City has been placed under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine or MECQ to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Health Marshals led by Executive Assistant for Security Concerns retired General Rey Lyndon Lawas and City Health Officer Dr. Maria Sarah B. Talla patrolled the streets including the tempurahan along Rizal Boulevard up to the Piapi-Bantayan coastal area to prevent gatherings.
Under MECQ, persons 17 years old and below and those 66 years-old and above, along with those who have immunodeficiencies, comorbidities or health risks and pregnant Women are supposed to strictly stay at home.
The tempura vendors, restaurants and other food establishments are allowed to operate but only for take-out orders but not beyond the 10:00PM curfew.
