A 20-footer reefer container van, capable of storing thousands of vials of COVID-19 vaccines, was installed today at the City Health Office.
Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo said that the donated refrigerated container, made possible through Secretary Arthur Tugade of the Department of Transportation under the Palamigan ng Bayan 011 program, will help the City Health Office get more vaccines and store them in the right temperature to accelerate the vaccination of senior citizens and soon people with comorbidities.
While the COVID-19 vaccination is already ongoing in 3 sites, Mayor Remollo’s priority is to secure more vaccines from the national government and private organizations to be given direct to Dumaguete City to inoculate as many eligible residents based on the order of priority of the Department of Health to achieve herd immunity.
Earlier, Mayor Remollo was able to get 10, 000 vials of SINOVAC through Senator Bong Go and Vaccine Czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. who favorably responded to his request considering the surge of COVID-19 cases in the city.
