The COVID-19 vaccination for hundreds of pre-registered senior citizens will resume tomorrow following the arrival of 10, 000 vials of SINOVAC last Friday facilitated by Senator Bong Go and Vaccine Czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. upon the urgent request of Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo, who is still confined in a hospital.
The 10, 000 vials would be used to vaccinate 5, 000 residents most of them belonging to Priority Group A2 (senior citizens), each for 2 doses.
However, the City Health Office reminds the senior citizens to refrain from going directly to the vaccination center tomorrow if they have not received any call from CHO confirming their schedules.
To avoid overcrowding and to maintain order, only those who registered and with confirmed schedules will be allowed to enter the vaccination sites. No walk-in will be allowed.
Mayor Remollo, who is recovering from COVID-19 in a hospital, lauded President Rodrigo Duterte, Senator Bong Go, and Vaccine Czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr., for their prompt and favorable response to the urgent request for more vaccines that will be utilized in the capital city of Negros Oriental.
Dumaguete City has a population of 137, 214 thus there is a need to vaccinate the eligible population of 108, 624 residents to achieve herd immunity.
The senior citizens in the city alone would number about 23, 000 per registration of the Office of Senior Citizens Affairs.
Prior to the arrival of vaccines from the national government, the Dumaguete City Health Office received a total of 956 vials of vaccines from the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) in 10 batches since March 22, 2021 to June 1, 2021.
