The number of active COVID-19 cases dropped to 218 following the recovery of 58 COVID patients but with 36 new cases reported, Wednesday.
Among the 36 new COVID-19 cases are 6 bank employees, 5 government employees and 12 individuals with no travel history but exhibited symptoms of Influenza Like Illness or ILI.
Presently, there are 218 active COVID-19 cases, 814 recoveries and 42 deaths since the pandemic affected Dumaguete City from January 30, 2020 to the present June 2, 2021.
The 36 new COVID-19 cases come from 16 barangays of the city to include a pregnant BPO employee; a church administrator; a mechanical engineer; a lawyer; a real estate agent; a nurse; a retired doctor and a government employee who was re-infected of the virus after recovery a few months ago.
Forty-six (46) Persons Under Monitoring (PUMs) completed today the 14-day quarantine without any medical incident, thus cleared to return to their families.
In contrast, 30 close contacts of COVID-19 cases were quarantined today along with 1 person with symptoms of ILI.
