Of the 144 active COVID-19 cases in Dumaguete City as of Friday (May 21, 2021) 106 cases, representing 73.6% of the total cases, are being managed by the City Health Office with only 38 patients or 26.4% are admitted in the 5 hospitals.
Based on the May 21, 2021 census provided by the Integrated Provincial Health Office the 5 hospitals are almost filled to capacity as 129 COVID-19 patients including those from other cities and towns were admitted in Dumaguete City.
A total of 38 COVID patients are residents of Dumaguete City while 91 other patients are those coming from other LGUs.
1. Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital with 34 COVID patients; 12 are residents of Dumaguete City.
2. Silliman University Medical Center with 48 COVID patients; 12 are residents of Dumaguete City.
3. Holy Child Hospital with 20 COVID patients; 2 are residents of Dumaguete City
4. ACE Doctors Dumaguete with 15 COVID patients; 10 are residents of Dumaguete City.
5. Negros Polymedic with 12 COVID patients; 2 are residents of Dumaguete City.
Preferably, only moderate to severe cases of COVID-19 require hospitalization while mild cases with no comorbidity can be managed by the City Health Office and Barangay Health Workers.
