The City’s Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Infectious Diseases confirms 17 new COVID-19 cases, mostly infected by fellow members of the family or close friends, but with 3 new recoveries reported as of Sunday.
Therefore, the number of active COVID cases increased to 170 with 676 recoveries and 38 deaths since the pandemic affected the City from January 30, 2020 to May 24, 2021.
City Health Officer Dr. Maria Sarah B. Talla reports that the 170 active COVID cases are residents of Barangays Bagacay (4), Bajumpandan (10), Balugo (4), Banilad 8, Bantayan (11), Batinguel (13), Buñao (2), Cadawinonan (2), Calindagan (14), Camanjac (6), Candau-ay (10), Cantil-e (2), Daro (7), Junob (5), Looc (11), Mangnao (3), Piapi (23), Poblacion 1 (3), Poblacion 4 (1), Poblacion 8 (3), Pulantubig (5), Tabuc-tubig (2), Taclobo (18) and Talay (3).
The 17 new COVID-19 cases are: 4 members of the same household exposed to a relative, a government employee who earlier tested positive of COVID-19; 5 members of a family also exposed to the relatives of the same government employee; a pharmacist with symptoms of Influenza Like Illness or ILI; a 28-year-old woman who was tested as part of job application requirement; a 79-year-old grandmother with symptoms of ILI; a 38-year-old female who works from home with symptoms of ILI and 4 members of the same family (mother, nieces and son) of an employee of a national agency.
Meanwhile, the 3 COVID-19 patients who have recovered are: the 3-year-old boy; 37-year-old male who works online and the 30-yearold house helper who recently arrived from Mabinay town.
Twenty-five (25) Persons Under Monitoring are under strict quarantine as they are known contacts of COVID-19 positive cases along with 2 individuals with symptoms of ILI.
