The number of active COVID-19 cases climbs to 157 following the confirmation of 30 additional cases with 5 recoveries and 1 death, Wednesday.
A 78-year-old businessman said to be a confirmed COVID-19 case died today while admitted in a hospital.
However, 5 other COVID patients have recovered: the 2 government employees in the Hall of Justice; a school staff; a faculty member and a hospital nurse.
Hence, since the city was affected by the pandemic from January 30, 2020 to May 19, 2021 currently has 157 active COVID cases; 626 recoveries and 38 deaths.
The 30 new COVID-19 cases are the following:

BARANGAY BALUGO: husband and wife, in their 70’s, who manifested symptoms of Influenza Like Illness (ILI)
BARANGAY BANTAYAN: 50-year-old sister of a COVID case
BARANGAY BATINGUEL: 22-year-old BPO agent; 29-years-old businessman and 50-year-old businesswoman
BARANGAY CALINDAGAN: a female bank employee with ILI
BARANGAY CANDAU-AY: 3 employees of a private company; 45-year-old male who works online; 30-year-old hospital staff; the 55-year-old wife and 20-year-old daughter of a COVID case
BARANGAY JUNOB: 56-year-old employee
BARANGAY LOOC: 29-year-old sales manager exposed to a COVID case
BARANGAY PIAPI: a 37-year-old university faculty; husband, brother and father of a confirmed COVID case; a 26-year-old branch manager of pawnshop; a 28-year-old engineer of a cooperative; 53-year-old hospital staff with ILI and the 3 house helpers of a businessman
BARANGAY PULANTUBIG: 31-year-old hospital staff who is the wife of a COVID case
BARANGAY TACLOBO: 23-year-old BPO employee and a 29-year-old university staff exposed to a COVID case from Sibulan
The 36 known close contacts of COVID-19 cases from 8 Barangays including 6 persons with symptoms of Influenza Like Illness are quarantined and will undergo RT PCR swab tests.
Meanwhile, 8 Persons Under Monitoring were released today after they completed the mandatory 14-day quarantine without showing any signs and symptoms of ILI.
