The City Health Office reports 17 new COVID-19 cases with 13 recoveries based on the latest release of swab RT-PCR test results, Tuesday.
Presently, the city has 132 active COVID-19 cases, 621 recoveries and 37 deaths since the pandemic affected Dumaguete City from January 30, 2020 to the present May 18, 2021.
The 17 new cases are: a mother and daughter who were exposed to a confirmed COVID case; a 42-year-old businessman exposed to a co-worker; 2 government employees of national agencies with symptoms of Influenza Like Illness (ILI); a government official exposed to a co-worker; 2 engineers of the same private company; a 46-year-old salesman; a 71-year-old female senior citizen with symptoms of ILI; a female nurse exposed to a COVID case; a hospital staff with symptoms of ILI; a 27-year-old student exposed to a confirmed case in the barangay; a female employee of a lending institution; 2 residents of Barangay Pulantubig with no known history of travel with symptoms of ILI and a 59-year-old woman admitted due to diarrhea.
On the other hand, the 13 COVID-19 recoveries are: 3 members of the same family (husband, wife and son); 2 BPO employees; the 45-year-old staff of Tanjay City Health Office; the 46-year-old live-in partner of a COVID case; the 34-year-old wife of an OFW and the house helper; a government employee; 61-year-old teacher; the 18-year-old student and the 43-year-old company driver.
Sixty-four (64) Persons Under Monitoring (PUMs) completed today the 14-day quarantine without any medical incident, thus cleared to return to their families.
In contrast, 64 close contacts of COVID-19 cases from Barangays Balugo, Batinguel, Bantayan, Buñao, Daro, Poblacion 1, Taclobo and Cantil-e were quarantined today along with 5 PUMs with symptoms of ILI.
