The number of COVID-19 cases climbs to 75 following the confirmation of 6 new cases along with 4 recoveries as reported Sunday.
The 6 new COVID cases are: an OFW and his wife with history of travel to Siaton; a 37-year-old male resident of Barangay Bajumpandan, who works online and manifested Influenza Like Illness (ILI); a 19-year-old BPO employee who is a resident of Jimalalud but renting in Barangay Calindagan; the 25-year-old female house helper of NEGOR-COV 2633 and the 46-year-old female legal staff.
All COVID-19 actives cases are isolated while their 61 known close contacts are quarantined along with 3 persons with symptoms of ILI.
City Health Officer Dr. Maria Sarah B. Talla reports that the 75 active COVID cases are residents of Barangays Bagacay (3), Bajumpandan (4), Balugo (1), Banilad (5), Bantayan (6), Batinguel (4), Cadawinonan (1), Calindagan (1), Camanjac (2) Candau-ay (1), Daro (6), Junob (11), Looc (1), Mangnao (1), Piapi (12), Poblacion 2 (1), Poblacion 8 (2), Pulantubig (1), Tabuc-tubig (3), Taclobo (5) and Talay (4).
The 4 new COVID recoveries are: the mother and son from Barangay Piapi with history of travel to Cebu and was exposed to a confirmed case there; the 39-year-old foreign national who is a traveler and an officer of an organization.
Hence, from January 30, 2020 to May 9, 2021 the city has had a total of 692 COVID-19 cases: 75 active, 582 recoveries and 35 deaths.
Dr. Talla also reported that 9 Persons Under Monitoring (PUMs) completed today the 14-day quarantine without any medical incident, thus cleared to return to their families.
