Dumaguete City Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo has been officially conferred as the Disiplina Muna Regional Champion/Ambassador of the “Bida ang May Disiplina: Solusyon sa COVID-19” Advocacy campaign by the Department of Interior and Local Government, Friday afternoon.
DILG Region 7 Director Leocadio Trovela lauded Mayor Remollo’s enforcement of strict local health protocols that has controlled the number of COVID cases in Dumaguete City despite being the center of trade, commerce and industry in this part of the region.
The conferment was held and online and the award was presented to Mayor Remollo by DILG Negros Oriental Provincial Director Farah Diba Gentuya with Councilors Michael Bandal and Karissa Tolentino, SK President Renz Macion, City DILG Officer Christopher Pastor along with the 30 Punong Barangays led by Liga ng mga Barangay President Dionie Amores.
Mayor Remollo was also cited for pioneering the implementation of the Discipline Zone Project long before the national government thought to institutionalize it.
The campaign is the merging of the DILG-led “Disiplina Muna national campaign advocacy and the DOH-led “BIDA Solusyon sa COVID-19.”
Mayor Remollo will lead the campaign and advocacy to “promote discipline as the new normal to prevent contracting or spreading COVID-19.”
