Key officials of Dumaguete City met with their counterparts this afternoon for consultations via zoom on the successful operation of Davao City’s 911 system that, for many years, provided quick emergency response to its constituents and guests in distress 24/7.
Like in Davao City, the proposed establishment of Dumaguete City’s own version of 911 hotline advocated by Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo is more possible than ever following the operation of more than 330 CCTV cameras installed in strategic locations.
The 911 hotline allows first responders to monitor in real time emergency situations, apprehend traffic violators, prevent and solve crimes and manage disaster.
It is noted that Davao City’s 911 owes its success to the modern CCTV system that helps verify the accuracy of reports received by its call center, hence assures the timely deployment of fire trucks, patrol cars, ambulances, search and rescue vehicles/equipment with the appropriate personnel.
