City Health Officer Dr. Maria Sarah B. Talla disclosed that there are only 8 active COVID-19 cases for 1 week now with no new case reported as of Sunday evening.
Thus, since the pandemic affected the city from January 30, 2020 to March 14,
2021 the city has 8 active COVID cases, 449 recoveries and 29 deaths.
Dr. Talla also informed Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo, Chairperson of the City’s Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases, that 25 of the 30 barangays have no more active COVID cases.
The remaining 8 active COVID cases in the 5 barangays are all isolated in the hospitals and other facilities until they shall recover from the virus.
The barangays with residents who are among the 8 active cases are: Batinguel (2), Buñao (2), Calindagan (1), Junob (1) and Pulantubig (2).
Meanwhile, the 25 barangays with no active COVID cases are: Bagacay, Bajumpandan, Balugo, Banilad, Bantayan, Cadawinonan, Camanjac, Candau-ay, Cantil-e, Daro, Looc, Mangnao, Motong, Piapi, Poblacion 1, Poblacion 2, Poblacion 3, Poblacion 4, Poblacion, 5, Poblacion 6, Poblacion 7, Poblacion 8, Tabuctubig, Taclobo and Talay.
Nevertheless, Mayor Remollo has advised all the barangay officials and health authorities to remain vigilant despite the declining COVID cases especially now that all incoming travelers will no longer be quarantined upon arrival as directed by the National IATF.
Finally, no individuals were quarantined today as Persons Under Monitoring (PUMs) while 13 PUMs were released from the 14-day isolation after they were examined and found to have no symptoms of Influenza Like Illness or ILI.
