Dr. Dehuel Cuyacot, of the Silliman University Medical Center, was the first person to receive the Sinovac COVID vaccine in Dumaguete City and Negros Oriental.
Dr. Cuyacot, is among the health workers considered high risk for exposure to coronavirus, as he has been taking care of dozens of COVID patients since last year.
Local health authorities including City Health Officer Dr. Maria Sarah B. Talla and Dr. Socrates Villamor of DOH Negros Oriental witnessed the launching of COVID immunization at SUMC today.
Other health workers were given the vaccines after Dr. Cuyacot in SUMC, Ace, NOPH and Siquijor Provincial Hospital.
The City Government of Dumaguete aims to immunize in due time as many qualified and interested citizens to achieve herd immunity and usher in the new normal.
