In her recent visit, Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat joined local bike enthusiasts with Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo and other city officials in touring the Rizal Bouelvard, Burgos Street and the newly restored Presidencia while riding on their bicycles.
This is consistent with the “Have a Safe Trip, Pinas” campaign of the Department of Tourism, which according to the agency reminds tourists to adhere to new normal guidelines that allow one to still experience magic when traveling amid the pandemic.
With the assurance by no less than Tourism Secretary Puyat, local stakeholders will be coordinating to ensure a safe and responsible resumption of outdoor activities including biking from the Dumaguete City’s historic streets to the nature trails in the adjacent towns to attract more domestic tourists and revive the local economy.
The DOT stressed that strict health and safety protocols implemented by hotels, transport services and other tourism operations keep guests safe while enjoying special moments tucked in memoirs of a lifetime.
Among those who joined and enjoyed biking with Secretary Puyat and Mayor Remollo are Councilors Karissa Tolentino-Maxino, Manuel Sagarbarria, Michael Bandal, Edgar Lentorio Jr., Lilani Ramon, Manuel Patrimonio, Liga ng mga Barangay President Dionie Amores, SK President Renz Macion, City Legal Officer Manuel Arbon and Executive Assistant for Security Concerns retired General Rey Lyndon Lawas.
