As in integral part in the COVID-19 recovery, the City’s Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases, chaired by Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo, has already identified the agencies that will be utilized once the COVID-19 vaccines shall be delivered and administered to the residents of the city.
Aside from the allocation of the national government, Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo said that the City Government has P 30 million for the procurement of vaccines available in the market to immunize at least 70% of the population particularly the vulnerable and those under high risk category like health workers.
Nevertheless, the Department of Health and the Presidential Communications Operations Office must launch an aggressive and comprehensive campaign on the necessity and safety of the COVID-19 vaccines to address misconceptions and solicit the cooperation of the people in the vaccination campaign.
In the same City IATF meeting, Friday, City Health Officer noted a sharp decline in the number of infections in Dumaguete City. As of Saturday, the city has 21 active cases and 422 recoveries. However, the City IATF will continue to enforce local health protocols, isolation of COVID cases, comprehensive contact tracing, containment and testing.
