The number of crime incidents dropped by 48.6% in the first 2 months of 2021 (January to February 21, 2021) compared to the same period in 2020.
A representative of the Dumaguete City Police Station informed the City Peace and Order Council that 259 crime incidents were reported to the authorities from January-February 21 2020 compared to 133 incidents in 2021.
Nevertheless, Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo urges the various agencies represented in the CPOC to remain vigilant both in the implementation of health protocols against COVID-19 and the fight against crimes.
Executive Assistant for Security Concerns retired General Rey Lyndon Lawas aired his suggestions on how the agencies could improve on their anti-crime strategies and communication.
Among the officials present during the CPOC meeting last Monday are Committee on Peace and Order Chairperson and Liga ng mga Barangay President Dionie Amores, Councilor Michael Bandal, SK President Renz Macion and City DILG Officer Christopher Pastor.
