City health workers begin today the simultaneous measles-rubella and oral polio vaccine supplemental immunization in all the barangays as supervised by City Health Officer Dr. Maria Sarah B. Talla, Dr. Socrates Villamor of DOH Negros Oriental, Councilor Manuel Sagarbarria the Chairperson of the Committee on Health in the City Council and representatives from UNICEF.
Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo has mobilized the health personnel and barangay officials in support to the month-long immunization activity from February 1-28, 2021.
The Department of Health has called upon parents and guardians to avail of the free vaccines and have their children immunized from measles (tigdas) and polio so they can grow healthy and avoid acquiring serious disabilities.
Dr. Talla said that the immunization activities aims to vaccinate 95% of those eligible ageing 9 months to 5 years-old for the measles-rubella and those 0 to 5 year-old for the oral polio vaccine.
Parents may coordinate with their respective health centers for their schedules or wait for the health workers to go house-to-house immunization.
