Representatives of the Federation of Dumaguete Motorcab Operators and Drivers Association Incorporated (FEDUMCODA) present to the Committee on Transportation chaired by Liga ng mga Barangay President Dionie Amores the request for Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo and the Sangguniang Panlungsod to allow the 6-month experiment of PediCrab (formerly Call-A-Trike) booking platform for those who need tricycles in advance through facebook messaging application and chatbox.
Councilors Michael Bandal, Lilani Ramon and Karissa Tolentino-Maxino also joined this morning’s discussion with FEDUMCODA President Edmar Q. Santos, Atty. Francis Ray Filipinas and other stakeholders.
The Committee informed FEDUMCODA that the previous resolution authorizing the Mayor to conduct traffic experiments covers all ride-hailing applications. Hence, there is no need for the federation to ask permission from the City Council.
Councilor Tolentino-Maxino stressed the need to be certain that the articles of incorporation allows the federation to operate such business and asked documents to prove their legitimacy including the patent of PEDICRAB from the Department of Trade and Industry.
The 6-month experiment is necessary to generate the needed statistical data and feedback from the riding public on this digital booking platform.
Santos assures that the fully automated “PediCrab” booking platform will reach out to commuters who normally book a pedicab ride in advance for a fixed rate (pakyaw) regardless of number passengers subject to existing fare rates provided in City Ordinance No. 87 series of 2018.
