In this episode, Dr. Dinno T. Depositario and Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo discuss the numerous challenges, mainly caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, that the City Government and the people had to manage to survive.
Nevertheless, Mayor Remollo is pleased to report the numerous infrastructure projects that were in progress and are expected to be mostly completed this year as follows: the Batinguel-Bagacay bridge near the BIR; the full span concrete bridge in Colon; PAL Buildings 1 and 2 for vocational school and dormitories; City Evacuation Center in Barangay Talay; City’s Satellite Hospital in Barangay Talay; Central Materials Recovery Facility in Barangay Candau-ay and closure of the dumpsite; Shoreline Protection at Rizal Bouelvard; Dumaguete Diversion Road and the Dumaguete Tower/Obelisk.
And by 2nd quarter of this year, it is expected that a COVID-19 vaccine will be procured by the City Government with an initial budget of P 30 million to immunize thousands of health workers, frontliners, government employees, the elderly, the later the rest of the population.
Mayor Remollo stressed that with the duly approved vaccine administered to much of the city population, which will be registered through the use of QR codes, the city can fully re-open business for the local economy to recover and thrive under the new normal.
