Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo participates in yesterday’s special general assembly with fellow mayors of the League of Cities of the Philippines (via zoom) to discuss the timelines for the release of the COVID-19 vaccines and create a master list to pool cities and national government resources to purchase an increased volume of vaccines.
Dumaguete City has allocated P 30 million for the vaccines and Mayor Remollo said that this is an initial budget that will be augmented by counterpart funds from the national and provincial governments.
Dr. Socrates Villamor of DOH-Negros Oriental and City Health Officer Dr. Maria Sarah B. Talla also joined the zoom meeting in preparation for a Task Force devoted to the systematic COVID-19 vaccination of city residents, who will be registered with individual QR codes.
Mayor Remollo, LCP Vice-President for the Visayas, also said that the priority in the COVID-19 vaccination would be the health workers, frontliners, essential workers, senior citizens, heads of the families and later the rest of the population who would want to be vaccinated.
