The number of active COVID-19 cases dropped slightly to 67 following the recoveries of 2 patients as of Sunday evening.
Since the pandemic affected the city from January 30, 2020 to January 9, 2021 a total of 265 COVID-19 cases were recorded: 67 active; 185 recoveries and 13 deaths.
City Health Officer Dr. Maria Sarah B. Talla also confirmed that 19 of the 22 Persons Deprived of Liberty, who were infected by their fellow PDLs inside the Dumaguete PNP detention center, have already recovered following the release of the results of their repeat RT-PCR swab tests today.
The 2 other recoveries from the community are the 25-year-old female resident of Barangay Taclobo with ILI and the 44-year-old businessman from Barangay Piapi.
The 67 active COVID cases are residents of Barangays Bagacay (5), Bajumpandan (3), Banilad (3), Bantayan (2), Batinguel (2), Cadawinonan (1), Calindagan (8), Candau-ay (1), Daro (1), Junob (4), Looc (5), Motong (2), Piapi (7), Poblacion 1 (5), Poblacion 3 (2), Poblacion 4 (8), Pulantubig (2), Tabuc-tubig (1) and Taclobo (5). They are all quarantined including their known close contacts.
Meanwhile, 28 PUMs completed today the 14-day quarantine without
any medical incident, thus cleared to rejoin their families.
Of the current 316 PUMs: 92 are in designated hotel facilities, 42 are in the
community isolation center, while 182 are in the barangay isolation centers.
Six (6) of the PUMs seen and examined by the City Health workers manifested symptoms of Influenza Like Illness (ILI) while under quarantine.
