The number of COVID-19 cases rises to 69 following the confirmation of 11 additional cases reported today. However, 2 COVID patients from Barangays Taclobo and Batinguel have also recovered.
Hence, from January 30, 2020 to January 9, 2021, the city has had a total of 265 COVID-19 cases: 69 active; 183 recoveries and 13 deaths.
Meanwhile, 86 known close contacts of COVID-19 cases are strictly quarantined as Persons Under Monitoring or PUMs and may be subject to swab tests based on the assessment of the health workers.
Specifically, the 86 new PUMs are close contacts of the COVID Positive cases from Barangays Batinguel (3), Piapi (47), Bagacay (1) and Calindagan (35).
Those under quarantine will be provided with relief food packs by the Office of Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo and the barangays.
City Health Officer Dr. Talla also updated Mayor Remollo, Chairperson of the City’s Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases that 10 other PUMs are quarantined today.
The new PUMS are: 8 Locally Stranded Individuals from Cavite, Manila, Ilo-ilo-, Ilocos, Zamboanga City, Bulacan and Davao; 1 COVID case in Barangay Batinguel and a priest (APOR) from Davao.
On the other hand, 28 PUMs completed today the 14-day quarantine without any medical incident, thus cleared to rejoin their families.
Of the current 316 PUMs: 92 are in designated hotel facilities, 42 are in the community isolation center, while 182 are in the barangay isolation centers.
Six (6) the PUMs seen and examined by the City Health workers manifested symptoms of Influenza Like Illness (ILI) while under quarantine.
