The number of COVID-19 cases eases slightly to 62 following the recovery of 9 COVID-19 patients with 6 new confirmed cases reported today.
City Health Officer Dr. Maria Sarah B. Talla reports that the 62 active COVID cases are residents of Barangays Bagacay (5), Batinguel (6), Cadawinonan (1), Calindagan (4), Candau-ay (1), Daro (3), Junob (3), Looc (7), Motong (6), Piapi (3), Poblacion 1 (4), Poblacion 3 (2), Poblacion 4 (7), Pulantubig (2), Tabuc-tubig (1) and Taclobo (7).
All the actives cases are quarantined including their known close contacts.
From January 30, 2020 to January 8, 2021, the city has had a total of 241 COVID-19 cases: 62 active; 166 recoveries and 13 deaths.
Meanwhile, the 22 Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) who are active COVID-19 cases under the Dumaguete City PNP remain under custody and isolated while waiting for the results of the repeat RT-PCR swab tests.
Dr. Talla also informed Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo, Chairperson of the City’s IATF-MEID that 38 Person Under Monitoring completed today the 14-day quarantine without any medical incident, thus cleared to return to their families.
In contrast, 17 individuals are quarantined beginning today in the different isolation facilities as PUMs.
The 17 new PUMs include: 7 APORs from Manila and Cebu; 1 COVID case from Barangay Calindagan; 9 Locally Stranded Individuals from Las Piñas, Cavite, Siquijor, Manila and Cagayan.
Of the current 313 PUMs: 92 are in designated hotel facilities, 42 are in the community isolation center, while 179 are in barangay isolation centers.
Six of the PUMs seen and examined by the City Health personnel has shown signs and symptoms of ILI.
