City Health Officer Dr. Maria Sarah B. Talla disclosed that the number of confirmed active COVID-19 cases in the city is now 38 following the 9 additional cases reported today.
However, 4 other COVID-19 patients have already recovered. From January 30, 2020 to December 1, 2020 the city has had a total of 77 COVID-19 cases: 38 active; 35 recovered and 5 deaths.
Meanwhile, 30 known close contacts of COVID-19 cases are strictly quarantined as Persons Under Monitoring or PUMs and may be subject to swab tests.
Specifically, the 30 new PUMs are close contacts of the COVID Positive cases from Barangays Balugo, Calindagan, Junob, Banilad, Bantayan and Mangnao. They are now under strict quarantine and will be provided with relief food packs by the Office of Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo and the barangays.
Dr. Talla also updated Mayor Remollo, Chairperson of the City’s Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases that 29 other PUMs are quarantined today but are not related to the active COVID cases.
The 29 other PUMs include: 27 Locally Stranded Individuals from Cebu City, Muntinlupa City, Batangas City, Ilo-ilo City, Cavite and Tagbilaran City and 2 OFWs from UAE and Kuwait.
On the other hand, 37 PUMs completed today the 14-day quarantine without any medical incident, thus cleared to rejoin their families.
Of the current 438 PUMs: 222 are in designated hotel facilities, 89 are in the community isolation center, while 127 are in the barangay isolation centers.
Only two of the PUMs seen and examined by the City Health workers manifested symptoms of Influenza Like Illness (ILI) while under quarantine.
