Representatives of Grab introduced before LGU officials and tricycle associations the company’s plan to conduct experiment in Dumaguete City once enough number of drivers and operators would sign up.
This morning’s activity is not in any way an endorsement of Grab Trike and it is not mandatory for drivers and passengers to avail of the company’s services.
Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo, Councilors Karissa Tolentino-Maxino, Michael Bandal and SK President Renz Macion were present during the discussions and invited any other interested ride hailing company to also conduct experiments in the city so that the transport sector and the riding public will be able to choose the best option or service.
Grab is a ride hailing platform present in multiple countries promising convenient, marketed as reliable and safest ride to different considering the current pandemic and the need to modernize the transport sector.
Passengers can book a ride by using the Grab application to set your pick up and drop off point. The nearest available driver will be assigned to a particular passenger complete with details, location and estimated arrival time. Both drivers and passengers are insured for compensation in case of accidents.
The City Government has earlier approved the conduct of a 6-month experiment relative to ride-hailing platforms for tricycles in Dumaguete City.
The experiment is needed to generate data, reasonable fare, capacity per vehicle, frequency of pick-ups, volume of passengers availing the application, economic viability of the operator, safety of vehicle and passenger, among others.
