Dumaguete City Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo conveys to Dr. Dinno Depositario what motivates him most when he returned to public service and how he deals with both critics and skeptics, many of whom are now his most ardent supporters.
And as he toils each day, spending his own resources and political capital just to complete all the priority infrastructure projects that would improve quality of life of his constituents, Mayor Remollo takes solace of the ever growing number of citizens who are ready to join him in building a better future for the generations to come.
Among the projects expected to be completed next year are: construction of the first ever 2 full span concrete bridges; 2 multi-purpose buildings in Barangay Batinguel to serve as vocation schools and dormitories; city’s evacuation center in Barangay Talay with complete amenities; City’s Satellite hospital also in Barangay Talay; Central Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) with equipment to turn solid wastes into useful byproducts, once fully operational the old dumpsite will be closed for good; restoration of the Old Presidencia to be converted into a regional museum; support to mass housing for informal settlers; facilitate the completion of the Metro Dumaguete Diversion Road; shoreline protection project in the south end of the Rizal Boulevard to become a center for sports and recreation and the proposed soaring Obelisk that will complement the development of the Manuel L. Quezon Park.
