The Philippine National Police, anti-crime organizations and barangay officials will be on full alert in the various Quarantine Control Points in the different borders of the city to ensure that all health protocols against the COVID-19 pandemic are observed by those entering Dumaguete City during the celebration of the 72nd Charter Anniversary next week.
City Chief-of Police Lt. Col. Mark Gifter Sucalit has presented to Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo the deployment plan of additional personnel including volunteers to increase their presence in the QCPs particularly in the North City Limit in Buñao, Larena Drive, Camanjac-Magatas, Candau-ay-Palinpinon, West City Limit Talay, Bajumpandan-Isugan and South City Limit in Banilad.
It must be noted that Dumaguete City remains under the Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ), hence, the City’s Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases has strongly discouraged mass gatherings and banquets/parties should be strictly limited to members of the same household. Non-residents of Dumaguete City are also discouraged from coming to join any festivities/gatherings as a safety measure.
Mayor Remollo reminded the members of the public that due to the threats of COVID-19 we need to celebrate the Charter Anniversary and annual fiesta modestly and avoid inviting non-members of the households, especially those from outside the City, to are parties/banquets here.
The PNP and barangay officials will vigorously enforce quarantine measures through Quarantine Control Points in the borders and conduct patrols in the neighborhoods.
