For two years (2018-2019), authorities have confiscated P 21.4 million worth of dangerous drugs and arrested 232 persons linked to the illegal trade.
Dumaguete City Chief-of-Police Lt. Col. Mark Gifter Sucalit reported to Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo and members of the City Anti-Drugs Abuse Council the accomplishment of the 185 joint operations conducted in 2018 and 2019 by the Philippine National Police, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, the City Government, Barangay officials, Department of Justice and other allied agencies to defeat the illegal drugs trade.
A total of 2, 829.32 grams of shabu and 338.42 grams of marijuana were confiscated with a combined street value of P 21.4 million: P 9.065 million in 2018 and 12.363 million in 2019.
Comparatively, 2019 also registered the most number of apprehension of persons involved in illegal drugs at 137 in 106 operations while only 79 were arrested in 79 operations for 2018.
The relevant data in the anti-illegal drugs campaign for year 2020 are being consolidated for reporting before the year ends.
