Members of the City’s Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases reached a consensus in its most recent meeting last Thursday to discourage residents from hosting mass gathering in celebration of the annual fiesta of the city slated November 24 and 25, 2020 amid concerns of possible increase in COVID-19 infections.
Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo, Chairperson of the City’s IATF MEID, is expected to issue an Executive Order consistent with the recommendations of the Task Force to limit the traditional fiesta gatherings amongst the members of the same households and discourage revelers from outside the city.
Police and barangay officials will be manning the borders and their own jurisdictions to enforce the provisions of the proposed Executive Order regulating the fiesta celebration.
Unlike in the previous years, the City Government plans to hold a scaled down mainly virtual activities to celebrate the 72nd Charter Anniversary of the City on November 24 and the annual fiesta celebration in honor of its patron Saint Catherine of Alexandria on November 25.
The final line-up of events for the fiesta and Christmas season will be announced in the next few days.
