The number of college students, who will be granted educational assistance/scholarship at P 12, 000 per academic year from the City Government will increase to 452 from the present 417 recipients.
Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo, Chairperson of the Educational Assistance Board, approved the request of Councilor Karissa Tolentino-Maxino to accommodate 35 additional recipients who are qualified to receive the educational assistance of P 6, 000 per semester as determined by the City Social Welfare Office.
For this year, 82 recipients/scholars have already graduated leaving just 82 slots available.
The City’s Educational Assistance Program was launched in 2017 and true to his promise, Mayor Remollo expanded the program from 214 college students in the 1st batch and now expected to grow to 452 recipients/scholars for 2020-2021.
Mayor Remollo will propose a supplemental appropriation in addition to the P 5 million budget as the means of investing in the youth so that more college students will be given the opportunity to secure a bright future for themselves and their families.
