Qualified senior citizens from 17 barangays received today their quarterly pension at P 3,000 each beneficiary covering the last quarter of 2020 (October-December) in front of the City Treasurer’s Office in Burgos Street.
Personnel from the Office of Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo, Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs, and City Social Welfare and Development Office organized the pay-out with the first batch of beneficiaries coming from Bagacay, Pulantubig, Balugo, Cadawinonan, Candau-ay, Piapi, Motong, Calindagan, Poblacion 2, Talay, Poblacion 7, Looc, Batinguel, Poblacion 3, 4, 5 and 6
Tomorrow (October 30) eligible senior citizens from twelve (12) barangays namely Bajumpandan, Bantayan, Banilad, Camanjac, Daro, Mangnao, Poblacion 8, Tabuc-tubig, Junob, Poblacion 1, Buñao and Taclobo are scheduled to receive their social pension.
Mayor Remollo instructed OSCA and CSWD to coordinate with the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan officials concerned so that the eligible seniors are identified, transported from their barangays and health protocols are observed during the distribution.
Recipients were given advance notice and provided with free transportation using the buses of the City Government and Vallacar Transit.
There are 2, 455 beneficiaries of the social pension in Dumaguete City as identified by the DSWD Regional Office 7.
City Social Welfare and Development Officer Lilibeth Filipinas shares the criteria of DSWD Region 7 in choosing who among the senior citizens are eligible to receive the social pension, as follows:
1. Must be 60 years old and above
2. Those who are not receiving any pension or survivorship pensions
3. Those who are not receiving financial support from children, especially from abroad
4. Those who have medical maintenance
5. Those who are among the indigent residents of the barangay especially those who are bed ridden.
