All 610 individuals, mostly those exposed to COVID cases and frontliners, were found negative of coronavirus during the free antigen swab testing today, which was sponsored by 3rd District Congressman Arnie Teves.
Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo mobilized the personnel of the City Health Office led by Dr. Maria Sarah B. Talla to support the daylong activity held along Burgos Street beside the City Hall.
For Dumaguete residents, the swabbing and machine operation of results were done exclusively by the City’s medical technologists and nurses supervised by officials from LABX Asia.
“We thank LABX Asia and recognize the initiative and generosity of Congressman Teves, Mayor Remollo said. LABX conducts antigen swab in Congress.
The swab testing process went very smoothly and coordinated by City Health Officer Dr. Talla, Councilor Lani Ramon, Dr. Dinno T. Depositario Chief-of-Staff of the Office of the Mayor, Liga ng mga Barangay President Dionie Amores and Atty. Ronel Depalubos.
Initially, Dumaguete was allocated 200 swab testing kits but was significantly increased to cover identified persons in Puroks where COVID cases were confirmed since the entry of APORs 2 weeks ago, detainees in police station in anticipation of their transfer to city jail, health workers and frontliners, contact tracers, first responders of the disaster risk management office, health workers and barangay officials.
Aside from Dumaguete City, mass testing was also held in Bayawan City, Zamboanguita and Valencia.
“The antigen testing, which is a National IATF recognized substitute for RT-PCR, is very timely and has complimented and enhanced our contact tracing efforts,” Mayor Remollo said,
The CEO of LABX Asia company, Hector Thomas Navasero, arrived via private plane at 7:15AM today with 6 other company personnel through the invite of Cong. Arnie Teves.
Bayawan City Mayor Pryde Henry Teves, Councilor Ramon and Board Member Jack Raymond fetched the guests from the airport before proceeding direct to Bacong.
The APORs were accepted by Bayawan City Mayor Pryde Henry Teves, Mayor Lenin Alviola of Bacong, Mayor Glenson Alanano of Zamboanguita and Mayor Edgar Teves of Valencia.
Hector Thomas Navasero is the son of the former Sylvia Arnaldo, an Outstanding Sillimanian, and the late Hector Navasero Sr. founder and longtime President of the Philippine Amateur Baseball Association with Mayor Remollo as director to this day.
