City Health Officer Dr. Maria Sarah B. Talla disclosed that 13 close contacts of the 5 additional COVID confirmed cases have been quarantined and shall be subject to swab tests.
The City now has 11 active COVID cases, thus authorities are asking the members of the public to observe the health protocols such as wearing of face masks, frequent hand washing and social distancing.
Specifically, 8 of the new Persons Under Monitoring or PUMs are close contacts of the 4 members of a family who were confirmed COVID cases while 4 other PUMs are close contacts of NEGOR-COV 253.
Dr. Talla also informed Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo, Chairperson of the City’s Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases that 12 other PUMs are quarantined today but are not related to the active COVID cases.
The 12 other PUMs include: 8 Locally Stranded Individuals from Manila, Cebu, Mandaue City and Zamboanga City; 2 sales representatives from Cebu and 2 private employees from Manila.
On the other hand, 34 PUMs completed today the 14-day quarantine without any medical incident, thus cleared to return to their families. Nine (9) of the newly released PUMs were exposed to a COVID case in Barangay Bajumpandan.
Also, of the current 319 PUMs: 170 are in designated hotel facilities, 65 are in the community isolation center, while 88 are in the barangay isolation centers.
None of the 319 Persons Under Monitoring (PUMs) seen and examined by the City Health workers manifested symptoms of Influenza Like Illness (ILI) while under quarantine.
