Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo expressed gratitude to Senator Bong Go, Councilor Manuel Sagarbarria, representing Cong. Manuel Sagarbarria, the DSWD, the Philippine Red Cross, DTI and other organizations for helping about 30 families most of whom have lost their homes in the fire.
In his remarks, Mayor Remollo said that he and the barangay officials of Junob led by Punong Barangay Maximino Umbac will negotiate with the owners of the land so that it will now be acquired and the City Government can partner with the National Housing Authority to provide the affected families their new homes.
Multiple government agencies and private donors have contributed their resources to alleviate the crisis situation of the fire victims in Purok Lunoy of Barangay Junob.
Senator Bong Go, in a video call, also addressed the fire victims assuring them of his support amid the tragedy. His staff distributed this afternoon P 2,000 cash per family; food packs; surgical mask (+ KN95); Vitamin C; faceshields; bicycles (through raffle draw) and Jollibee meals.
Mayor Remollo noted that the City Government immediately mobilized the City Social Welfare and Development office to provide food and relief packs to the affected families, the City Health Office provided medical assistance and temporary shelter.
On Monday, the affected families will each receive P 10, 000 as financial assistance from the City Government. Mayor Remollo said that the representative of each family will be transported using the city’s bus to claim the assistance at the City Treasurer’s Office.
