Representatives of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) share the programs and services of their agencies for the OFWs amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Yesterday’s virtual symposium was organized by the City Human Resource Office under Dr. Dinno T. Depositario and Public Employment Service Office Manager Ma. Socorro Mira in compliance to the directive of Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo to provide an avenue for the concerned agencies to introduce the programs that promote the safety, relief and assistance to displaced OFWs caused by the upsurge of coronavirus cases worldwide.
Thousands of OFWs have returned to Dumaguete City and Negros Oriental after losing their jobs aborad or after they opted to go back in the safety of their families at least until the threat of COVID-19 shall have passed.
The virtual symposium with OWWA, POEA and DOLE was attended by OFWs, members of the press and LGU department heads and part of the celebration of the 120th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary with the theme: “PSC@120: Public Sector in the Age of Digital Transformation.”
