Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo urged everyone to respect and abide by local health protocols to keep the city and the province of Negros Oriental safe from any outbreak of COVID-19 transmission.

There were incidents in the past when some Authorized Persons Outside of Residence or APORs and Locally Stranded Individuals who bypassed the protocols tested positive after they arrived thus endangering the health and safety of the people not only in Dumaguete City but the entire province.

Luckily, through the vigilance and industry of local officials and health workers COVID patients and their close contacts were immediately identified and contained.

There is still no proven case caused by local transmission here.

The City’s Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases earlier unanimously passed a resolution that requires every person (APORs, ROFs, OFWs and LSIs) entering the territory of Negros Oriental by land, sea and air with Dumaguete City as the ultimate destination shall submit (1) a negative RT-PCR test result (2) procure a Certificate of Acceptance from the City of Dumaguete and (3) undergo a 14-day quarantine upon arrival in a facility designated for the purpose.
