Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo confers with newly-assumed City Chief-of-Police Lt. Col. Mark Gifter Sucalit during Tuesday’s dialogue with the Punong Barangays to address the various peace and order related issues following the spate of killings in the city.

Sucalit pledges to do everything in his power to enhance the anti-crime drive and to solve some of the murder cases despite limitations of available resources.

Both Mayor Remollo and Lt. Col. Sucalit will lobby before the Regional PNP for the assignment of at least 50 additional policemen who could be deployed in the proposed full complement police sub-stations in strategic locations of the city, maximum utilization of CCTV system to track and prevent crimes in real time, increased visibility and deployment of force multipliers and even possible arming of the Punong Barangays.

Despite the tragedy of losing one of their own, Mayor Remollo urges the Punong Barangays to trust the leadership of Lt. Col. Sucalit that justice will be served while remaining vigilant for their own safety as they perform their sworn duties.

The PNP Dumaguete will be on alert to address any threat to the safety of the elected officials.
