The Dumaguete City Liga ng mga Barangay unanimously passed a resolution commending both Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo and City Health Officer Ma. Sarah B. Talla for their “exceptional and remarkable response to the COVID-19 crisis, even to the point of risking their own personal health and safety to reassure a worried society.”
At present, the city has only one active case of COVID-19, a 48-year-old male with travel history, who is currently isolated in the hospital and showing signs of recovery.
Liga President Dionie Amores said that all 30 Punong Barangays are appreciative of the commitment, dedication and professionalism of Mayor Remollo, Dr. Talla and the City Health Workers who render unprecedented efforts and services in responding to distress calls and closely monitoring nearly 1, 600 PUIs and PUMs since February 2020 up to the present.
The Liga ng mga Barangay resolution was presented, Tuesday, to Mayor Remollo and Dr. Talla, who are the Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson of the City’s Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases, respectively.
While the fight against COVID-19 is far from over, but the city’s Punong Barangays noted that even as COVID-19 has brought fear and anxiety, Mayor Remollo and Dr. Talla have calmly and competently managed the pandemic guided by science and utmost professionalism.
The Liga ng mga Barangay also asserts that even if Mayor Remollo and the city’s health care professionals are taking enormous personal risk in caring for the sick and inflicted, but they fearlessly confront the challenge of COVID-19 through consistent awareness campaign and enforcement of appropriate measures to protect the city from the pandemic.
