Underscoring the need to remember the sacrifices of our forefathers in the fight for independence, Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo led the simplest celebration of Philippine Independence Day today at the Manuel L. Quezon Park with other city officials.
The early morning celebration started with the sounding of siren, raising of the flag, wreath-laying and a prayer by Reverend Father Enrique Balongag.
In his message to the assembled dignitaries led by Vice-Mayor Alan Gel Cordova, Mayor Remollo extolled the selfless frontliners, government employees, city officials and health workers who work day and night to win the fight against COVID-19.
In conclusion, Mayor Remollo sought the cooperation of the people and leaders to unite and cooperate in order to defeat the present dangers posed by the dreaded coronavirus.
Councilors Karissa Tolentino, Michael Bandal, Lilani Ramon, Joe Kenneth Arbas, Edgar Lentorio Jr., Liga ng mga Barangay President Dionie Amores, City Administrator Doram Dumalagan, Assistant City Administrator Dr. Dinno T. Depositario, City Tourism Officer Jacqueline V. Antonio, PNP officers and other LGU officials were also present to pay tribute to the flag and join the prayer for a truly free, united and safer nation.
