Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo urges the Punong Barangays to help their constituents understand the dangers of COVID-19 and the means to protect their communities from any transmission in a meeting with Local Government Operations Officer Christopher Pastor, City Health Officer Dr. Maria Sarah B. Talla and Liga ng mga Barangay President Dionie Amores, Thursday afternoon.
The cooperation of the barangay officials is necessary to monitor the presence of Locally Stranded Individuals and Persons Under Monitoring (PUMs) in partnership with the health workers of the City Government. Especially now with the influx of returning OFWs and LSIs who need to go home after losing their livelihood due to the pandemic.
The meeting was called after it was learned that a former patient of the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital was discharged pending result of the RT-PCR COVID-19 swab test.
The patient, a resident of Barangay Bagacay reportedly tested positive of COVID-19, some nine days after the swab test was conducted and 4 days after she was discharged from the NOPH COVID-19 ward.
Dr. Talla immediately transferred the woman, her husband and adopted son to the barangay isolation facility and conducted swab test on the three individuals. Contact tracing is in progress.
