The Office of Senior Citizens Affairs and City Social Welfare and Development Office disclosed that some 2, 300 eligible senior citizens have received their social pensions at P 3,000 each covering the first semester of 2020 (January-June) from the 30 barangays after a weeklong distribution.

And in compliance to the directive of Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo, many beneficiaries received their pensions at the comfort of their homes.

This is to spare the seniors citizens the inconvenience of physically coming over to the venues of the distribution. With the cooperation of the barangay officials, social distancing and use of face masks were enforced to the seniors present.

Per guidelines of the DSWD Region 7 the following are eligible to receive the social pensions: must be 60 years old and above; not receiving any pension or survivorship pension; not receiving financial support from children, especially from abroad; in need of medical maintenance and those among the indigent residents of the barangay especially those who are bed-ridden.
