Drone photos show light traffic and less crowds in major streets and establishments on Mother’s Day as the City Government imposes restrictions on movement and transportation for non-residents while under General Community Quarantine.

Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo earlier ordered that Sundays are reserved for Dumaguete residents to do their shopping and other tasks as residents from 1st and 2nd Districts are allowed entry on Monday, Wednesday and Friday while those from the 3rd District can enter the city establishments on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday only.

Prior to the imposition of the Easy Access Pass, authorities particularly Mayor Remollo and even ordinary citizens, were alarmed of the sudden surge of vehicles and people from all over the province choking the streets of Dumaguete City and crowded business establishments hence compromising the early successes in preventing local transmission of COVID-19.

Mayor Remollo urges the members of the public to cooperate and follow health protocols so we could sustain our fight to keep the city and province free from the dreaded virus.

The national Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) will decide if the GCQ of the province of Negros Oriental will be lifted or extended after an evidence-based assessment.
