The Dumaguete City Jail (both the female and male dormitories) has been locked down since March 22, which ios part of the strategy adopted by the Inter-Agency Task Force COVID-19 chaired by Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo, to prevent transmission of the dreaded COVID-19 virus inside the facilities with hundreds of Persons Deprived of Liberty.

No visitors were allowed since then and supplies are screened and brought inside to replenish the food and basic necessities of the PDLs and jail guards. Multi-vitamins and other medical supplies were also provided by the City Health Office.

Among those still inside the compounds are the jail officers who were not allowed to step out while their colleagues are stationed outside providing maximum security for the perimeter.
