Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo led hundreds of women’s rights advocates during the opening ceremony of this year’s month long international celebration of the “social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.”
Various women’s organizations and male supporters attended the Holy Mass at the Dumaguete Cathedral, joined the street parade and the program at the Manuel L. Quezon Park in solidarity with their international counterparts, Monday.
Among the leaders of the women sector present are Councilor Bernice Elmaco, Liga ng mga Barangay President Dionie Amores, Barangay Camanjac Kagawad Elgin C. Villamil, GAD Focal Person Aveangel Alcorin, CSWD-OIC Lilibeth Filipinas, Police Officer Jinky Alalong and Rosalinda Abellon.
Mayor Remollo paid tribute to the countless contributions of women in the nation’s history and development. He underscored the continued support of the City Government to promote and protect the rights of women through programs, projects and activities year round.
