The City’s top officials Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo and Vice-Mayor Alan Gel Cordova will comply and implement the directive of the Department of Interior and Local Government to continue the road clearing operations in the barangays.

During the regular meeting of the City Peace and Order Council, City Local Government Operations Officer Christopher M. Pastor said that once the city government in partnership with the Department of Public Works and Highways clears the road, the barangays will take charge of the maintenance of the roads already cleared from illegal parking and other obstructions.

Dumaguete City has already substantially complied with the directive of the DILG after an evaluation by the regional DILG months ago considering that Mayor Remollo launched the Discipline Zone Project with other agencies a year before President Rodrigo Duterte ordered for a nationwide road clearing operations.
