Dozens of bike enthusiasts and their supporters retrace the route taken by sportswoman and college teacher Hellen Pinero when she was hit by a car while biking along the Dumaguete-Dauin national road.

Triathletes Ricardo Cordova and Irwin Ramas-Uypitching said that this morning’s activity, which started and ended at the Pantawan sa Rizal Boulevard, is geared towards raising awareness among fellow motorists that bikers and runners also have the right to use the road like without compromising safety.

Councilor Mike Bandal, a fellow triathlete, said that Pinero is being treated after sustaining compressed spinal injury and is required to stay in the hospital for the next months to fully recover.
