Hundreds of children and their advocates among the government agencies gathered today for the Children’s Congress organized by the Local Council for the Protection of Children.

In his State of the Children Address, read on his behalf of Calindagan Punong Barangay Ma. Isabel Sagarbarria, Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo highlights all the investments that the city administration has provided for the care, survival and development of the children.

These include the allocation of P 2.2 million for milk and supplemental feeding program for children; provided various vitamins supplements, immunization and deworming of 12, 888 children; circumcision of 520 boys; oral health care for 1, 814 pupils; Operates 63 Day Care Centers serving 2, 498 pupils from different barangays; sheltered 59 minors who are in conflict with the law; operate La Casa Esperanza, a residential care facility for 69 abandoned, neglected and abused women and children; provided pre-natal services to 215 pregnant teenagers; granted scholarships to more than 200 students and provided 181 indigent students with school supplies and uniforms every year.

Mayor Remollo extends his warmest felicitations to partner agencies like DSWD, Department of Justice, City Health Office, City Nutrition Office, City Population Office, Department of Education, elected officials, non-government organizations, the members of the City Council including Vice-Mayor Alan Gel Cordova for their tireless efforts and passion in promoting the welfare and development of the children.

“We need to nurture our children so they will grow to become responsible and productive citizens capable to provide a decent life for their families and to lead us to a cleaner, greener and more prosperous city in the near future,” Mayor Remollo stressed.
