Dumaguete City and four of its component barangays were conferred with honor and distinction by the Department of Health Center for Health Development in Region 7 for successfully combating malnutrition through various intervention programs that benefitted their constituents and promoted physical wellness particularly among the children.
Councilor Edgar Lentorio, represented Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo, Chairman of the City Nutrition Committee, is among the awardees as Best in Governance and Organizational Structure for the exemplary performance of the LGU based on the regional evaluation of its nutrition program.
Meanwhile, three barangays represented by their respective Punong Barangays were also awarded as 2019 Outstanding Barangay for garnering excellent scores based on the Regional Nutrition Evaluation.
City Nutrition Officer Lourdes Taburaza Barangay Cadawinonan, represented by PB Jimmy Tabada with a final score of 94.85%; Barangay Bantayan, represented by PB Nerio Grapa, final score of 94.25% and Poblacion 8 represented by PB Maelyne Rose G. Mariano garnering a final score of 93.25%.
Finally, Crislen Marie I. Tubana of Barangay Junob, was awarded as City Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar and 2nd Runner-up of the Regional Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar Award.
The plaques of recognition were presented during the 2019 Grand Nutrition Awards at the Bai Hotel in Mandaue City, Friday.
